tools for technique tuesday

For Tuesday 2 October 2012, 10:30 am.

You might like to bring from your own collection:

  • Prima Press Stamps
  • Long narrow word or image stamps
  • Brilliance graphite black ink and Memento Tuxedo black ink
  • Stamp cleaner and cloth
There will be tools and supplies for use in class.  The advantage of working with your own tools is you are already familiar with them and you will have an opportunity to learn more about their use and care.

grand illusions

A supply of new two fold and three fold blank card designs arrived at Create On Ormond last week.  Marisa gave me the challenge of using one of the designs to make a shop sample.  The challenge I accepted was to decorate the plain white book card.  I left the oval cut outs for someone else.

With my card designs I love playing with illusions of 3D and making miniatures. This 1920's book was used for inspiration ... the outside not the inside.
The plain white cardstock was stained pink with ink and then I got to with some gold craft stickers to add the gold leaf detail one might find on an old book, in this case a pretty diary.  I added some scoring board embossed lines to the gold insert for the edges of the book pages and a greeting inside.  When you have a look at the sample in the shop you will see that back of the card is still white.

I also decorated the brown sample of the book card.  I really think this traditional colour should be in the next stock order!
The book cards have lots of interesting detail but lay flat for safe and easy posting.

sleep over

Rather than pounding Highway 1  through our yard I think someone stayed overnight for a sleep over and then warmed themselves in the morning sunshine.
After all, why go home and then have to walk all the way back to your favourite quiet sleeping spot.

winter woolies in spring colours

The final touches have been added to the defined walkway through the Ryrie Market Carpark.  I noticed today the sparkly white park benches have been installed.  So if you are pooped out from adding coins to the parking meter, have a rest before you go on your way!
All the trees in the avenue have been decorated with a yarnbombed crocheted trunk piece.

They each have a unifying flower and frill with varying stripes in fresh spring colours.  Perhaps the seats  now need some cushions!
