just right there

on the rack outside the classroom.

I will be running the second of the faded blue denim classes Tuesday night 2 March.  Many see this card as a boy's design.  There is a tempting new collection of heavy weight patterned papers by My Minds Eye called Quite Contrary that are spot on for the shirt.  Raquel put them in the display spinner on Saturday ... well what was left after I had a sort through the delivery box.   I chose some for my stash and some for the April card class.

Papers are often labelled good for card makers or good for scrapbookers.  These are definitely good for card makers, with small designs and a mix of colours to use for highlights. Be aware that many of the papers are displayed with their monochromatic side showing.  Their "best" side is hidden!

dressed up with alcohol inks

I enjoy digging out some plain elements and having a colouring session.  Taking a sheet of peel off gold stickers I started a journey to re-colour them and create something individual.  The leaves seemed to speak of autumn so I used cranberry, lettuce and butterscotch inks.

First several drops of lettuce ink (above).
The tweezers were used to help spread the ink.  Leave to dry a little.
Next drop some cranberry and then finish with butterscotch.
I made sure all areas are covered with ink then left the sheet to dry.

The leaf outlines were removed with artist's masking film.
This helped them keep their shape and made it easy
to apply the shapes to the front of the cards I made later
I also used the negative shapes of the leaves.

a change to the wardrobe

Last night I was conducting the second Pretty Little Dress class.  We were discussing the next card class which is Faded Blue Denim, a pair of overalls and T-Shirt design for a boy's birthday.  I shared that I thought the design could be done for a girl too.  Perhaps in white paper lace techniques and blue or pink denim.

Deciding I would make the card for a girl I avoided the white idea as it is hard to photograph well.  So here is an alternate version of the card using Wild Asparagus " the cutest thing" floral with ColorMates co-ordinating Light Awesome Aqua.

The first class for Faded Blue Denim has now sold out.   All is not lost, if you are would like to join the class we are taking expressions of interest  bookings for the class starting 6.30 pm on Tuesday 2 March.

If you are interested please contact Chandon Craft by dropping in, emailing
